The methodology

How we calculate your estimate

01
Collections multiple

The most widely used baseline: typical dental practices sell for 65–85% of annual collections, adjusted for payer mix, overhead efficiency, and market conditions. High-FFS practices in competitive markets can exceed this range.

02
EBITDA analysis

We calculate your estimated Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization — adjusting for doctor compensation — and apply market-based multiples (typically 5–7× for GPs, higher for premium practices). This is the methodology preferred by DSOs and institutional buyers.

03
Value driver scoring

We assess five key drivers that influence where your practice falls within the range: hygiene production ratio, new patient growth, overhead efficiency, active patient base stability, and regional market demand. Strong scores can meaningfully increase your estimate above the baseline.
